Professional Water Tank Sensor Installation in Auckland
Artesian & Solway Water is a preferred TankMate installer in Auckland, with extensive hands-on experience installing and configuring both TankMate radar sensors and Smart Water pressure-sensor systems. We assess tank access, construction, position and connectivity before recommending the best setup for your property.
TankMate radar installation
- A 30mm opening is required in the tank lid or roof
- The radar sensor must be mounted directly above the water
- The sensor must remain at least 100mm above maximum water height
- No external mains power is required at the tank
- Connected tanks sharing one common level may use a single sensor
Smart Water pressure-sensor installation
- Useful when a sensor cannot be mounted directly above the water
- Well suited to trickle-fed tanks and tanks beneath driveways
- The tank sender communicates wirelessly with the indoor screen

Important subscription details
The $200 monitored-refill subscription is an Artesian & Solway Water service and is separate from the purchase price of your sensor.
TankMate LTE/4G units also require their own cellular connectivity subscription after the included first 12 months. Wi-Fi units do not have a cellular connection fee, although optional premium app features may carry separate charges.
The monitored-refill service is available only within eligible Artesian & Solway Water delivery areas and requires compatible shared tank data.

How does a smart water tank level sensor work?
TankMate R3 uses a non-contact radar sensor mounted above the water. It measures the distance to the water surface and converts that measurement into a tank-level reading available through the app.
Can I check my water tank level from my phone?
Yes. Compatible TankMate sensors publish tank information to the mobile app and web platform, subject to connectivity and account setup.
Should I choose Wi-Fi or LTE/4G?
Choose Wi-Fi when a reliable 2.4GHz network reaches the tank. Consider LTE/4G when Wi-Fi is unavailable but suitable cellular or NB-IoT coverage exists.
When is Smart Water better than TankMate?
Smart Water is often better where Wi-Fi reaches the house but not the tank, provided the tank sender has suitable line of sight to the indoor screen within approximately 300m. Its pressure-sensor arrangement is also useful for underground, driveway and trickle-fed tanks where a TankMate radar sensor cannot be mounted directly above the water.
How much is the Artesian & Solway monitoring subscription?
The monitored-refill subscription is $200 for the annual season running from 1 November to 31 October. Sensor costs, installation, optional app features and LTE connectivity may be separate.
What does the monitoring subscription include?
For eligible customers, it includes remote monitoring of shared tank data, delivery planning near an agreed threshold, priority-customer status and a $20 discount on each water delivery.
Does the 4G sensor have another annual charge?
Yes. The TankMate LTE/4G product includes its first 12 months of connectivity. The current product information lists a separate $79 annual TankMate connectivity charge after that period.
Can one sensor monitor several connected tanks?
A single sensor may monitor tanks that are connected and maintain a common water level. Separate independent tanks generally require separate monitoring equipment.
Can tank monitoring help identify a leak?
Monitoring trends may reveal an unexpected drop or unusual consumption, but the sensor does not locate or diagnose a leak. A plumber may be required to investigate.

Does TankMate require mains power?
R3 sensors are powered by three AA batteries and do not require a mains connection at the tank. Other display systems have different power requirements.
